In an interview with IGN about the I:SS gameplay Nate Fox said in the inFAMOUS world, as the term conduit implies, the powers have to be absorbed from something and I was just wondering, since I dont think they ever mentioned, what everyone thinks the other conduits in the series absorb.
Personally I think Kuo and Vermaak maybe absorb cold air or ice vapor (cause of those coolers on the Vermaaks backs), Bertrand maybe swamp water, Nix oil or petrol, Sascha tar or oil, Kessler, from the way he goes down on one knee and touches the ground, electricity from the earths EMF or the atmosphere and Alden and the Trashmen maybe have something to do with magnetism since I've only seen them manipulate metal.
On a side note while Bertand is one of the topics, are the corrupted conduits? Just wondering since the beast went into the swamp after Nix's pets and the dead drops mentioned Bertrand wanting a conduit radar, plus it would explain why the Militia were kidnapping "deviants".
Thanks in advance to anyone who can input anything.
I don't think all conduits need to absorb something. The term for a conduit is for someone who manipulates a certain matter. Kuo could just manipulate the water vapor in the air, and Nix makes fire by making heat (when molecules vibrate, the friction between the molecules makes heat, and eventually, fire.) Nix might be able generate heat this way. Plus, it would be weird if she absorbed oil, kinda gross, not that the idea is bad.
Just thinking this mainly cause on this video at 3:22 Nate Fox says "it's still an infamous game, the rules of the universe are all the same. He can't just make material out out nothing, he has to drain it from the urban landscape." Plus the definition of the word conduit is a means by which something is transmitted, so i was sort of thinking they had to have some sort of input in order to output anything. I might just be reading too much into what he's saying and looking at the term too literally though.
I get what you are saying though. I just wanted to put my theory about it cause I thought it was interesting. Plus, as you may know, it's been confirmed that Deslin has to absorb smoke from various sources to use his powers. Hope Seattle's got a big carbon footprint
Yeah no problem just thought I would post the vid to sort of back up what I was saying, thanks for taking part (especially since you're the only one so far lol).
yeah I have heard that, also heard smoke is gonna be harder to find than electricity so hopefully normal bolts wont cost any energy like in infamous 1 cause I'm assuming there'll be no bio-leach type thing and I was always having to recharge in infamous 2 since I'm a crap shot lol. Damage on Delsins bolts looks better though if that blowing a car with 1 hit on the trailer is accurate, can't wait for it. :D
Don't think they would make us pay energy for the shots though. They probably guessed that, since we shoot a LOT, people couldn't just keep on draining from other sources, especially since smoke is so rare to find. I agree though, the damage with Deslin's shots look awesome!
Sorry, the Anon was me, I forgot to sign in. And will you really be able to do that? Drain tear gas, I mean. He's supposed to drain smoke, not gas. Also, I still feel like spending energy of shots would be useless, but the idea isn't impossible.
That's also how Kessler knew exactly how Cole would turn out with proper time, though the Ray Sphere did make things go faster. Who knows, maybe if Cole had lived to Kessler's age he might have been twice as powerful as him.
An Italian Guy wrote: It didn't make sense having to recharge Cole with electricity to use ice or fire, so I hope there will be different elements for different powers.
I figured it was because Cole got those powers artificially and that they were in the same spectrum of his electrical powers, ie energy or lack there of as the case may be, and they worked off his electricity.
Delsin on the other hand will be absorbing the powers since that's his natural power so its likely he'll get a specific source for each new power, with each source being more available as the game gets harder because it'd make some kind of sense. Since it was seen that the DUP has Geokinetic capabilities we may have to absorb specifics if we get powers from them.(Cole showing up in game and giving Delsin his powers could be awesome if executed correctly)
ok so delsin absorb power from other conduits (best power ever) and because he stole his powers he must recharge them and i doubt fetch needs to recharge and the reason i think cole has to recharge unlike everyother conduit( besides suker punch needing to give him som kind of cripple) is because he cant create the electricity only absorb and direct it but hey thats just my idea and quick thought neon is a much cooler power than smoke because a head shot equals desentagrated bad guy or a shoot to the leg and they are done being a threat
Okay, but since First Light is gonna be coming out relatively soon, how does everyone suppose that these theories (minus the basics of energy) will work? I mean, if everyone else that's playable has a cripple, then she's got to absorb neon too, just like Delsin, but where the hell would Neon BE in Curdun Cay? All conduits HAVE to absorb their powers, that's the basic definition OF the word Conduit. I'm basically just confused by half the people here at this point... ._.
The way I see it is that all Conduits that fire off projectiles or produce something from their bodies have to absorb it, or a base version of it, from an outside source. This is the case with Cole having to absorb electricity before he can shoot it. Fetch and Delsin also have this limitation. However, if the power is manipulation of something, it doesn't have to be absorbed in order to be used. A good example of this is Eugene. He could absorb video and create his constructs anywhere he wants as long as he has video stored up, or he could just create them from screens without absorbing anything. Augustine also probably works in this manner.
