Delsin Rowe's power limit

What i was wondering about, if Delsin can absorb Conduit powers, wouldn't that make him technically more powerful than John? And how many abilities can he absorb? Can he decide if he absorbs an ability or not?

      Loading editor
    • Their probably going have something similar to infamous 2 when you get either nix's or kou's power. You only got a fraction of their powers For example, when you choose nix over kou, you only get a few of her abilities, but you didn't her abilty of warp oil or napalm. So what my guess is that, anytime you get a new power, your only getting a fraction of the it.

        Loading editor
    • He seems to have a lot of smoke abilities though. He absorbed those.

It's different from the device, Delsin can absorb/replicate abilities which would essentially mean he can use them to a full extent.

        Loading editor
    • I'm looking at it like Rouge's power to absorb other mutants powers. It may depend on how long Deslin holds onto the person too.

        Loading editor
    • I hope you get/absorb many power from other conduits. I'm so excited I can't wait to play it.

        Loading editor
    • Yes, Delsin is more powerful than John. How can he not be? If John was still alive, & if Delsin could get close enough, Delsin could take his powers.

And the only reason that Cole probably couldn't use the full extent of the power was most likely due to the fact of the powers being less developed or, most likely, it was due to gameplay mechanics.

It is clear to me, as well, that Delsin is using the smoke power to the full extent of its capabilities. He seemed to take out that armoured truck with no issues, in the trailer.

        Loading editor
    • Outsider, I think Delsin would only get one power from John if he wants to keep his other abilities.

It kinda reminds me of something I played before. A power absorber can absorb as many abilities as he can, but only gains 15% of the original power. Another power absorber however, can only selectively absorb 5 powers (he can release a power he absorbed to absorb another different one, or he can reabsorb a released power). Anyway the second power absorber can absorb only 5 powers, but can use them at 125% output, unlocking new abilities. So Delsin would probably get only a few or one ability from conduits he faces.

And yeah, Cole without gameplay mechanics? Check out the comics in DC infamous. He can mow down an entire group of soldiers in less than a second, with a basic attack. That's many seconds better and less lethality used than Mercer's devastators.

I think that armored truck was hit by a pyrokinetic attack, so we might be seeing fire powers early in the game

        Loading editor
    • I'm thinking they'll gain all the powers, but have like choices like, "Absorb the Ice Conduit or Electric Conduit". They'll probably seperate each new power by the Districts as well so if they have 3 districts that's 3 choices, and three sets of powers, minus the smoke. Also, didn't the machine kinda short-circuit while they were using it, or did it just seem to be that thrown together that I imagined it that way?

        Loading editor
    • to Ccintro, it didnt short circuit, though it looked like the powers were transfering from kuo or nix, to cole. like this

      KXkxkxkxkxkxkxkxkxkxkBkxkxkxkxkxkxkxkxkxkxC

( kx means kuo or nix. c is cole)

      instead of

      KXccccccccccccccccccBkxkxkxkxkxkxkxkkxkxkxC

        Loading editor
    • the last thread, the c was going toward KX and kx was going towards cole

        Loading editor
    • The thing just overloaded and blew up.

        Loading editor
    • Yeah, lol, from my memory of it, it seemed so thrown together that it seemed like it did. I can see why it was only supposed to go one way though, as Bertrand wouldn't want to give his powers away

        Loading editor
    • More like wouldn't want others to have his horrifying power. He was more of an anti-villain in a way, but he's still the villain

        Loading editor
    • I have a feeling he can't absorb to many powers or else he will overload.

        Loading editor
    • A kinda overload thing might work nicely. Kinda like if you use your powers too much when you have too many absorbed, you have a meter that will either nullify your powers or kill you

        Loading editor
    • Or it could be like the Doombringer from DOTA 2  who can only absorb 2 powers at a time.

        Loading editor
    • I wonder how his power works, do you have to be touching (kinda like Rogue) a conduit or do you just have to get near them (like Peter Petrelli)?

        Loading editor
    • I don't think they're going to use the power for gameplay. Just think about when Cole could have Nix's or Kuo's power.

        Loading editor
    • What do you guys think about cutscenes? Do you think they'll have different cutscenes based on the the power route you take?

        Loading editor
    • Not the power, but karma, of course.

        Loading editor
    • Idk, it would be cool to see that much dedication put in if they were to do so. But what I mean is the same cutscene based on Karma, but the power Delsin uses changes by what you have.

I guess it depends on how the power system works, as if it is where you have to get it back after losing it, then there would be no point. But if they did powers systematically by District, then it would be useful and could present itself in game

        Loading editor
    • How are they going to split off the ditricts though? Trees? Trees are the borders of the map (Lol, Delsin's weak against trees) but how are they going to split the districts.

On the other hand anyone seen Dyling Light's trailer (I saw someone borrow Cole's electric weapon in a way)?  Looked pretty well made, but a trailer could be badass and the game is actually bad. But since it's multiplatform, Xbox one, Xbox 360, PS4 and even PS3, I might buy it

Might be the first zombie game that I enjoy

      Smoke Thrusters and Sliding.

      What the........

But I don't think Somke thrusters would be able to be able to carry Delsin. Smoke is gas after all. How about a flying cloud like Nimbus from DBZ.

      Nimbus.

        Loading editor
    • The beggining of the trailer's dash ability seems like a good grinding move. Static Thrusters was rumored to be replaced by the smoke like ability in Festival of Blood. Aside from that those names are the best sounding ones I've heard

        Loading editor
    • Wait, Delsin can teleport right? what if that replaces Static Thrusters. But that will be remove the fluidity if they implement it like Blink in Dishonered. However, if they implement it like Eagle's Flight in AC3 DLC, it will have lots of fluidity.

        Loading editor
    • If you check on wither this forum or a different one involving powers, I pitched the same idea. But Red brought me back down to Earth from dreamland and asked me how we'd use it, and how well would it fit in the game.

Also we're not sure about teleporting

        Loading editor
    • How we'd use what?

      Smoke Thrusters: Regular old R1.

Teleport: Triangle is not used, so why not use that.

Also about teleporting, Delsin does that in the trailer so I think that SP might add it in the game.

        Loading editor
    • I seriously don't think its teleporting. More like a blitz speed ability but lately I've been wrong a lot. And that last part where he materializes counter my argument. Either way I'd hope while on the ground I can use Smoke Thrusters as some sort of speed up ability. Maybe while holding R1 you can do those melee attacks in the trailer, you know, R1 to move and when close to enemy press square (or triangle)

Dude Delsin can turn to smoke.

        Loading editor
    • Turn to smoke and materialize anywhere. That is like teleporting, right?

        Loading editor
    • Not sure everywhere, but I wouldn't call it teleporting yet. I don't think Sucker Punch are teleporters as much as they are gliders (i.e. inFamous, Sly Cooper, etc.) but who knows what they'll do here, as they seem to be planning to revolutionize the series

        Loading editor
    • Yes. They only reason I bought a PS3 was for inFAMOUS and I'm suprer hyped for Second Son.

        Loading editor
    • What would Delsin's finisher would be though? You know, like Cole's Thunder Storm. What would Delsin's be? Me I personally think of a smokey flaming tornado you can control, kinda like in All Stars. Maybe that's for good karma. While in Evil Karma you gain limitless energy and more lethal attacks

        Loading editor
    • I don't think they would do 2 finishers (although that would be nice).

        Loading editor
    • I don't remember any finishers beside the melee ones. Do you mean cutscene wise or last power?

        Loading editor
    • I think he means the last powers. Ionic Storm.

        Loading editor
    • Well I think they'd stick with one, and they probably wouldn't do a tornado because "been there done that". They'll come up with a new original finisher probably.

        Loading editor
    • Smoke replicas of himself. That would be...... hilarious.

        Loading editor
    • I think his super would be something along the lines of an inferno or fire devil (a burning  vortex of air). For a replacement for static thrusters, flame thrusters should do nicely. The teleport should be a seperate ability. Also, a cool ability for Delsin would be a breathe attack, something like a dragon. Dragon's Breathe would be a cool power.

        Loading editor
    • Keep in mind that smoke is not equivalent to fire. They might make it that way, but I mainly think it will be exclusively smoke

Not to sound rude, but did you see the trailer? There were multiple attacks that involved actual fire.

        Loading editor
    • That smoke had embers in them. So, that could have caused the burn.

        Loading editor
    • I think they may have done it more for the effect or the explosions and the powers, and it was just the smoke. But because we're still so far from the release, smoke could mean a lot of things. In the end, you could be right, but until then we're going to try to stick with just smoke.

    • Wouldn't a flood of lava be epic for an evil Karma ionic-like power? Like flooding the streets in lava, leaving anyone in its path encased in stone..and pain.

        Loading editor
    • That would be... amazing. Or what about filling everyone in the areas lungs with smoke and then watching it pour out of them, kinda like the Ionic Drain

        Loading editor
    • How about transforming into smoke, getting inside a person and blowing them up or roasting them to death?

        Loading editor
    • So much for a T-rating if they have any of these, eh?

It would be cool to have a sub mission like that though. Ride a tornado and rip out the enemies that try to invade. Kinda like the overcharge missions in the second game.

I personally think of a few things:

      1) Apocalyptic Bomb - Point at a target. Press the down button and Delsin raises his hand, and as fast as summoning an ionic vortex, smokes surround the target area, stunning anyone caught. Then, in a second or two, Delsin clenches it, the sands converge. Boom! Whatever he's pointing at explodes with a giant blast of smoke and flames! Or just smoke, with twice the area of damage then the smoke. Think about it, that would be awesome

      2) Death Storm - Secondly, press the down button and the whole area darkens. Smoke fills the sky and now any enemy (or civilian) if hit by any attack is affected by a small blast. Most human sized targets would have their speed lowered but can still fight, your regenerative factor increases heavily though, making Delsin very hard to kill and has no energy limit for a set amount of time

I'm also thinking up of a melee weapon you can repeatedly use, like the gigawatt blades, kills anyone it touches. As a super ability I mean

        Loading editor
    • Not bad ideas, I especially like the Gigawatt Blade type attack, as I absolutely hated having to re-apply them

        Loading editor
    • Yeah, it would be cool to have something like that. Maybe it needs a timer or karma points for balance though.

On the other hand what kind of missions do we want for infamous second son? I for one would like a survival mode where you just fight against a horde of enemies with limited supplies of smoke around you, and after an enemy wave they drop tear gas canisters and you can hire conduit allies. Too much like Spec ops though. Mabye just a sub mission of 'defend this from DPU'

The feature to replay the missions you've done before would be pretty cool. Feature to replay territory missions while gaining 25% of the previous exp even if you already took over would be nice too.

BUT the most feature I really want, is the capability to replay the game with all powers unlocked. Or your current powers unlocked. That would've been a great addition in infamous. Even the feature of a karmic change would be nice too. Like in infamous 2 example, on the good side you defeated the beast and am about to use the RFI, but you're given the choice to stop and assist the beast instead. Or in the evil last mission, instead of killing Zeke you let him shoot you a couple of times and then you activate the RFI after changing your mind. Those would've been awesome

Btw, just found a few scans of Cole's comics (only a few though and they were of a battle). He is badass!!. He destroys a helicopter in one hit by just touching it after he jumped at it. He can also destroy one by just gathering energy. And he can also electroko a bunch of military soldiers shooting at him with great accuracy by just gathering energy as an orb and shooting them at different directions, in less than a few seconds. And all of those three feats came up a few seconds after the other. I have greater respect for Cole now and newer tools to fight him against Mercer. Someone should make a respect thread about him

Recently I'm interested by the ability to negate anything supernatural, magical or something like a conduit's ability.

Also, anyone thinks its possible for Delsin to get the power to manipulate time? Say just a short time stop where he can move around by himself? Or maybe to the future where he becomes The Beast in Kessler's timeline or to the past where he encounters Evil Beast Cole in infamous 2 and accidentally brings him to Kessler's timeline?

Actually, i've been thinking of a power that transforms him into smoke form and slows down time, also giving him the ability to burn enemies by flying into them. Think of an amped up Firebird Strike.

Mind's repaired mostly and been rebuilt to fight back against trolls and whatever fridge horror or anything even more I face. Though recently I've been helping a certain mind controlling british student lead a revolution, and the people I'm working with might find out I'm a serial killer with a notebook... Nope, still insane. Though if I were to go insane maybe I'd pick someone like that 'Attack on Titan guy that can become a giant and regenerate like Mercer.

But we're getting off topic, we already discussed many of Delsin's abilities. How do you think will the upgrade system be implemented here? Like in the first or second?

Personally I like the FoB one where your attacks seemed to get stronger for each upgrade (Oh the lightning bolt there made me remember infamous 1), the stunts required for each upgrade and the first game's slow steady improvement. My only complaints were in the second one, I didn't want a Double Grenade to get a Napalm Grenade nor a magnum bolt so that I can use Bolt Stream.

Which upgrade system were your favorite guys?

    • Am I the only one hoping his Melee skills are better than Cole's? I mean, don't get me wrong, Cole was pretty badass with the Amp but I hope we get a combo system at least. Sure the combat was pretty good in inFamous2 but it was very lacking, you know? Anyways that's just me, and I don't think they're gonna let Delsin have a shit load of powers, but at least and extra 2 powers for combat. Also SuckerPunch's logo has changed in the trailer for Second Son, A Star is now included in it, I think this may incline to Delsin's real power as in inFamous 1&2  where they had the logo arcing with electricity paying homage to Cole's powers. Once again, that's just my thoughts.

well it's a short range teleport from what we can gather, but i don't think it's purely meant for fighting because in the newest GameInformer issue the creators have said 'Delsin is not an experienced climber or freerunner, but if he thinks he can climb something, he will.'  I'm now thinking towards the teleportation as more of a vertical traversal tool or a quick dash for dodging and transitioning through attack combos smoothly during combat.

I'm just worried that the game might be too easy. One smoke bolt was enough to destroy a car and down a DUP officer. And I think the melee attacks can also take them down fast. Maybe it's just me worrying too much but I don't want infamous to become too easy. Maybe it'll cost a lot of energy to use those attacks hopefully.

For your information... The D.U.P. was confirmed on Gameinformer to have Conduits of their own.

    • Just watched the gameplay video of it. Definitely an infamous vibe. You can take down enemies faster too with that melee. And love the graphics. Glad they kept the destructibles around and the ventilation shafts looked nifty.

Saw a bunch of conduit soldiers jumping around with some sort of terra form ability. Or something that spawns pillars.

But what really made me smile at the end was the finale. When Delsin just flies up the sky and slams down with a blast.

        Loading editor
    • They said they'd make Delsin cooler and have stronger attacks, but make the game harder. So just because his attacks are better, doesn't mean the game won't be lacking difficulty

        Loading editor
    • I loved it. The first time I saw it I wasn't sure about some of the changes but watching it again looks awesome. And my excitement spiked again. My ONLY concern was the aiming. I like that he can turn when he aims, looks much more natural and makes much more sense but I hope you can fine tune the aim a little because it looked fairly spray and pray at some points. But regardless it looks incredible.

The orbital drop looks great and I love the whole effect with it at the end. Truly epic. (Fanboying over haha)

        Loading editor
    • I agree about the aiming. I hope it's still easy and accurate.

        Loading editor
    • I only say that because there were points he even had to stop moving to line up a shot. I hope maybe holding L1 or something just zooms in a tad and slows down the sensitivty maybe but retains the fluid movements as he turns and fires and whatnot.

OT: So anyone else really like the ability to short term teleport? I feel like that will be useful, especially combined with vents and thrusters.

    • Maybe I just gotta get used it to. I loved how he can now aim and fire while facing different directions, I like that a lot actually.

And it wouldnt suprise me if for this demo to show things off they OP'd him a little, maybe unlimited health and energy? Just to kinda show what the gameplay looks like.

I don't know about you guys but that sounds cool to me :)

    • Nix is African American from New Orleans. Not Native American.

        Loading editor
    • Oh. Okay.

        Loading editor

    • Murder of Crows has been done so many times though.

        Loading editor
    • Murder of crows? What does that have to do with everything?

Anyway I've been looking for another crow motif character aside from Shameimaru. Personally I think that smoke karma works too. But what about the other powers? What color do they change to?

        Loading editor
    • He's throwing out the idea that so many games have done crows. Maybe some other bird? Vulture, falcon? I feel the need to create a theme around the movesets for some reason. I'd say smoke wise it stays the same old red and white, as well as the azctual smoke being black and white. fire can be blue, and it still sticks with the other games.

Depends on what the powers are as well Core. They could be anything, as they are only limited by the developer's imaginations.

        Loading editor
    • Huh, never really found crow themed characters that much. But I think I read around on the articles that there were also another bird tattoo on Delsin's arm. Forgot what it was. But I think that's heading to the word 'freedom'. Don't think it's eagle though.

Just two things makes me wonder. One, did Delsin get the multi air dash ability from the terra conduits he was fighting on the demo? Or will he get a new ability from them? And two, this game really reminds me of Prototype. Bioterrorist fighting masked mooks and having the ability to absorb powers from stronger bioterrorists

Not that it's a bad thing

        Loading editor
    • I see the Prototype direction too. But it's still inFamous, despite that. Not to say that it would be like Connor, but the eagle thing being attributed to freedom is kinda cleche. That being said I really want it to mean that in this. I think that some cleches would give it character and, let's face it, it would fit really well

        Loading editor
    • Indeed it will, though I wonder how Sucker Punch is going to set up the antagonist here. Oh and how the areas are going to be split up.

No more water weakness here apparently. So how are the districts going to be split?

        Loading editor
    • Ooh ooh! Maybe like Jak 2, there'll be this magical robot in the water that eats you. Or maybe the DUP control sharks!

        Loading editor
    • Vents lol. No but seriously windmills?.

After thinking it over with myself and putting up a pretty good fight, I might add, I have decided they won't split up the districts. What they did in the first and second, moreso the second is make it a blackout zone but connected them all with bridges. They might do something similar.

I only played the 3rd one. Makes me wanna go back and check it out

        Loading editor
    • I doubt it will be like blackout zones, our protaganist here is not an electric conduit like Cole.

        Loading editor
    • Smokeless areas? Honestly, there's alot of things they could do to get rid of smoke, like the windmills mentioned above, those eco-friendly anti-pollution caps for factories and simply absorbing vents

        Loading editor
    • That sounds a bit more pathethic compared to Cole's weakness to water. But hey balance issues are needed after all. Nonetheless, still a pitiful weakness. Delsin being beaten by a wind milll... Pfft, maybe even an electric fan

On the other hand I think Sucker Punch said something abouts trees... Lots and lots of trees...

        Loading editor
    • Trees are Delsin's weakness ?!?!

        Loading editor
    • i'm guessing theyll impliment some kind of air purification that'll make Delsin weaker

        Loading editor
    • Maybe you can only get int other parts of the city by using a certain power. You can't move to that part until you unlock said power.

        Loading editor
    • Exactly!! SP said that in an interview. Now, I remember. I'll try to find the link.

Edit: Found it!! read the last paragraph.

        Loading editor
    • I remember reading that now. Probably why I suggested that haha.

        Loading editor
    • That's definitely the best idea.

        Loading editor
    • Clever. Always thought it would fit here since his powers does evolve. Wonder how though.

Anyway, anyone thinking Delsin would get any terra powers? Those military conduits he fought, or the rock men as I like to call them, jump around like the ice men. Wish they change them though.

        Loading editor
    • Yeah it sounds sad compared to the "Metroid boundries". Wonder what they'll be like, and what powers we might get to unlock the new areas. I like the idea of earth powers, but what else?

        Loading editor
    • Maybe that's what they'll do, but in turn the attacks would be less useful. Say a shield that breaks in a few seconds but blocks any sort of damage, a small hop ability, or for you to deal double damage on the next attack. Either limitless but weak, or limited but rare, or limited but still smoke drain (Like cryonic rockets).

Gravity would be a power I want. Maybe for the last. You can improve your flight, and land with great shockwaves and even use it around you so that attackers are slowed down or can't jump, as a super ability.

        Loading editor
    • Yeah being able to have this Beast-like gravity power that wears down your energy cores over a period of time. What about plant powers? I know it seams very anti-climactic, but think about it. Sucker Punch said there would be lots of trees so it would make great camo, and you could snare enemies like Nix with tar, except with vines.

        Loading editor
    • Am I the only one hoping for Tornado powers? Like think about it, his aimed attacks are small tornado blasts and he can use it for lifting enemies up then slamming them down. Come on doens't that sound cool?

        Loading editor
    • Several days ago I think I asked for powers that allowed us to form a tornado we can ride on and steer it to enemies. Though maybe they should make that as a sub mission instead

        Loading editor
    • Do you think he'll be able to teleport with any other abilities besides smoke? I doubt it cause of some comments that sucker punch made in that gameplay video.

        Loading editor
    • Yeah. Definitely not as powers.

It does sound fun but what fun is just using it in a side mission

        Loading editor
    • I'd suggest a set of side missions with that, so we get more tornado time throughout the game.

I don't know any other powers that would make sense to teleport. I know Kessler could teleport in inFamous in a way, but I'd much rather have some sort of invisibility to go with the smoke or another power.

        Loading editor
    • I want telekenisis. It's very simple in concept, but limitless in possibilities. Delsin could make himself float, or simply throw objects. He could even make a mental shield.

        Loading editor
    • Nah... that wouldn't be good.

        Loading editor
    • I wasn't saying they should, I was saying that I want it. Quite frankly I think it would be a terrible power for a game.

        Loading editor
    • I would like it to. but I think that the enemies would rip you apart before you can even lift a finger.

        Loading editor
    • Maybe it'll work for stealth.

While sneaking around, hold L1 to point and X to force choke lift enemy. Hold to ko, or press R1 to throw and kill. Maybe a ranged version of kinetic pulse.

Or a Down analog ability that makes enemies around you float, unable to attack.

        Loading editor
    • Reminds me of Force Unleashed. I think they're trying to create their own path in the gaming world, and wouldn't try to get something that close to Force Choke. They will try to invent their own name by imagining their own powers.

        Loading editor
    • Well since there are already  terra conduits on the DUP's side, I'm guessing they'll allow you to have terra abilties

        Loading editor
    • Also, we all have seen both endings of inFamous 2, which means we all know that we either created an army of Conduits or killed most of them. Depending on whatever choice we made in the previous game (the game checks our previous save data on which ending we picked) will that affect the amount of Conduits we'll meet in Second Son?

Sidenote: if this is something implemented (which is highly unlikely), and we made the Evil Karma decision at the end of inFamous2 where the hell is the Beast and/or Beast-Cole?

        Loading editor
    • It was announced that the Good ending was deemed canon

        Loading editor
    • Okay then, instead of choke you make the enemy float temporarily allowing you to strike him with any attack. And I'm still rooting for the ability to form a chain saw by using smoke and rocks to grind them around too fast.

Good ending was canon so its canon. Word of God said so. Or word of creator

If there are any terra abilities that are the same power as Orbital Drop I would love to do Kessler's earthquake attack. The one that spawns illusions. Deadly attack that allows you to stun enemies to either escape or charge.

I seriously hope for a level up system like infamous 1. You unlock abilities by doing stunts, but you can improve them (say lower their cost, or give an effect, or combining them with other abilities) with exp.

        Loading editor
    • I did see Delsin grab someone by their head in Bio Leech fashion and kinda suffocate them in the trailer.

        Loading editor
    • If he can imbue his chain with his powers why not other weapons? Could do some ghostrider shit with a bazooka and tear down a building or something.

        Loading editor
    • Not the type of game. Basooka would be badass in GTA but inFamous is based on powers and weapons are a little outside of the box.

        Loading editor
    • Heard that damage on the area is permanenet now. So the dinosaur skeleton you destroyed with the orbital drop on the trailer stays like that. So it might not be the best idea to level the whole city.

On the other hand it makes me wonder if there would be a civilian limit on the game. I'm leaning no though. But it would be pretty cool to have less civilians on properties you destroyed.

        Loading editor
    • Maybe that's how Delsin stays with Good Karma by not destroying any landmarks or house structure. Vice Versa he can choose to level everything and have Evil Karma, forcing people into poverty making them hate him.

this made me very excited on what they'll do with structural destruction.

Also is Second Son going to be on PS3 or only PS4?

    • Does anyone think that Delsin will get all serious, due to having such a powerful power?

        Loading editor
    • Serious? I'm not sure about that but if a good karma path is taken I can definatley see him maturing a little. But at the same time I love his immature attitude "Only downside is...uh....nope. Nothing. This is pretty freaking awesome." I love that line! and hope he doesnt loose that smartmouth kinda personality but alas, I can see it maybe being toned down once he gets deeper into the story.

        Loading editor
    • I think they want a character that can develop maturity, instead of already being there. Cole was hardened, grim and straightforward in his approaches, while Delsin, after experiencing a torture method or seeing people murdered, might change the way he thinks or feels about his powers and actions. To see a character evolve in the story helps the immersion so I wanna see that

        Loading editor
    • I agree 100%^ Don't get me wrong, I do want character development. I want to see Deslin grow and evolve while still somewhat maintaining his attitude. Idk how to really explain it haha but Ccnitro, I think you got it just right that they want to have the ability for him to devolop and have us live his transformation from slacker smartmouth to matured leader.

        Loading editor
    • Building on this, it helps give us an insight on how a younger Conduit would deal with their powers. I say this because so far we've seen Conduits in their middle ages or at least just turning 30+, so seeing how a Conduit in their late teens would deal with their newfound powers seems very interesting to me.

        Loading editor
    • Though, to see such a smartmouthed character completely mature would be a waste. I want him to keep that, as hard it may be after the kinds of choices he'll have to make.

        Loading editor
    • Agree with both of ya. I think, in terms of characters in this series, Deslin's rebellious and somewhat A-Hole attitude makes him unique and is actually one of the reasons I am so drawn to him. (note I'm 17 and Delsin is practically the characterization of my dark side so I'm a little biased but oh well haha)

        Loading editor
    • I'm back, exams are done,

Anyway I can see two paths here for his character development,

Good: Delsin becomes still the immature guy, but is heroic now, willing to help others even if it means high risk and high death rate. He'll be much more in conflict with choices and he's still laidback, but he's still there. He won't kill so easily

Evil: Delsin becomes more irritable and violent prone. He's eager to get revenge and killing enemies. A lot more eager on doing things that destroys, doesn't care much about anything being destroyed as long as they accomplish their task. And overconfident

        Loading editor
    • So essentially

Good: witty, can be serious, selfless

      Evil: slightly more psychotic Joker

        Loading editor
    • I like it^^

        Loading editor
    • Also, just a thought, if Delsin ever gets wind powers, here's the fake ulti skill that I made for it (Kinda like Orbital Drop for smoke)

      • swings his hand forward, sending out a gale that stuns enemies pushing them back slightly. Sends out another gale the same way, making them stumble this time. Then he dashes forward with his arms extended outwards, with the result being enemies in a line you passed being shredded by wind blades. Not shredded as in bloody, but injures them heavily.

And another thought, how do you guys think would Delsin deal with knocked down targets? You know, Cole's pulse heal, arc restraint and bio leech. How would Delsin affect them?

Also, somehow brought Prototype for PS3 for a cheap price. Definitely fun game, a bit too easy for me, but it's a very fun game. Not planning to buy Prototype 2. My views on Prototype has improved

        Loading editor
    • Healing not sure, but I'm sure that he could easily fill their stomaches with smoke and create bindings

        Loading editor
    • Logicaly Delsin should be able to heal. Breaking down someone's whole body, materializing into smoke is no small feat in itself. Even in X-men, the people who can essentialy change their bodies into other substances and elements are big deals. Its why Iceman is indestructable/unkillable. He just keeps reforming his body or regrowing limbs from mist everytime its destroyed.
        Loading editor
    • What you're describing is Bio Leech, we mean the healing of other people, which is very hard to imagine with smoke powers

        Loading editor
    • How is Prototype too easy for you, Core? Have you completed it yet because it gets really hard near the end.

        Loading editor
    • I got started on Prototype, was easy on the first parts. Its getting difficult though, enough to make me have to think of different ways to plan. On the first parts though, it was quite a breeze ripping through everyone while throwing people at people. Now I have annoying helicopters combined with a pair of tanks and many uavs. Definitely a fun gam

        Loading editor
    • I think they want that feeling. Just being so powerful that nothing can stand in your way. Then they amp it up, and you want that feeling back, so you'll plan it out more. It seems to work reverse in the inFamous series, where youre rewarded with unstoppableness

Anyway guys, just had a thought. Ever since I played Devil Survivor 2, I've been having thoughts.

What if Sucker Punch implemented a death factor here?

It's been talked before, but what if instead of absorbing conduits (resulting in killing them) you can turn them to your allies or have them as neutral characters. For example:

A fire conduit is someone you defeat but wants to escape from DUP and may/may not assist you in the end

Good: Spare him and let him leave: Unlock fire powers later when you meet him again but moves have to be unlocked and brought by doing a fire conduit side missions, but you have to face him as an enemy on a final battle (unless you unlock all his fire abilities)

Evil: Absorb his powers ending up killing him: Unlock fire power skillset now with all moves buyable by exp already, but you don't have to battle him on the final battle

        Loading editor
    • I'd like powers to be rather straight forward. Choose between this or this, or just one choice.

        Loading editor
    • Idk, just my opinion. Heard people saying that the karma decision doesn't really affect your karma and that it needs to be more thought provoking.Personally I love the way SP did the karma system

So if you combine something like "Earth + Fire" you get Magma/Lava? Then as opposed from draining one pool of resources it uses both resources to use said combination?

    • I'd like to see a few things come with Delsin's "power steal" ability:

i would like to see a power that involves Delsin (using terra powers if there obtainable) stomping the ground and forcing cover out of the ground, as well as a rock-armor power.

keeping certain powers for different uses ie. smoke for mobility, terra for defensive abilities, water maybe? for fast up-close attacks, plant for devastating, powerful attacks ie. a giant root emerging from the ground, gravity for devastating attacks too?

Seperate recharge bars for different power types, in infamous 2 it felt a bit strange fueling ice/fire powers with electricity, i'd make more sense for (again assuming terra powers are available) Delsin to "drain" rock from the ground. it would also add more experimentation to fighting ie. ran out of smoke power, switch to terra power bar.

this was me, i just signed up

    • The only problem I find with the whole "draining for energy" is that earth you could have infinite energy just by standing on the ground. Water would be difficult, depending on how the city is laid out, because it's usually islands surrounded by water. I would prefer something like Ray Field Energy powering all of the powers, but you can collect a lot more enery then the previous games. To have all the different bars would get rid of the movies feel, as with too much on the HUD the imersion disappears.

        Loading editor
    • Then in exchange maybe the abilities are mostly just for travelling around or actually not really that powerful but can be useful at times.

Maybe it can be shown be shown by Delsin when he uses a fire attacks, the battery bar glows red slowly decreasing, and once he runs out it's not glowing anymore. Then you switch to an ice attack which is barely used se you the battery turns blue which is half glowing.

Or you can imagine a color wheel, a small sized one which slowly decreases. Don't know but I think Sucker punch might stick with the smoke absorb. I really hope they do SS well

I think Nate Fox said in the ign interview that the different powers offer different playstyles and that you will be able to receive resources from the urban landscape for most of the powers. Honestly, I don't really want to see plant powers because I think they are lame. While I do want to see gravity powers what will be the power source?

They are going to have to balance these abilities out not only by attributes (power, speed, mobility etc.) but also how difficult or easy it is to get your powers replenish.

        Loading editor
    • Plant powers are lame you say?

      Let's think of the possibilities!

      Makes plants grow, any kind:::

You can summon man eating giant plant things that also have spikes vines

You can control vines with thorns so sharp they put Mercer's whipfist to shame, and can bind anything with these

You can summon a gigantic tree for cover, or make it grow under a tank to make it flip up to the sky

Summons a fragrant flower that either makes the enemy fall asleep, receive hallucinations or die of poison

Absorb energy from plants, which in turn absorbs energy from the sun. You get solar energy. You get a Master Spark. Maybe a Dual Spark. Even a Trinity Spark. Either way, you get something called pure energy which you can shoot out as much as lighting since it's practically everywhere.

Possibly sensee what plants sense and in turns with your plant grow ability can create am omniprescent sense around you...

Edit: Wood control since it's plants allowing you to affect density so it's like Gaara's sand, almost unbreakable and can modify into a weapon or a shield

That's all the powers I can think of right now. There are many more I can think of given the time...

Either way one word is clear, plant manipulation is not weak or lame... As I spend my time on the internet, I weep for my sanity that died~

On the other hand, one more ability I want for Delsin to get is.... This....

Plasma you can get from neon signs but it would have to be different gameplay wise from the smoke powerset. I still not feeling it for the plant powers. Infamous powers seemed to rely more on how dangerous an element is in real life than what is displayed in other bits of fiction. Example, Lightning is very dangerous thing in real life (duh) and while plants do have thorns and store sunlight they can't use either for massive destruction like storing up sunlight for a massive particle beam. Nate Fox did state the other powers get powered up by objects in the urban landscape so who knows?

        Loading editor
    • Most likely they will bring back the older powers, like Nix's tar/fire, Kuo's Ice, Lightning, etc., while still adding some new variation. Do you think they'll make full sets for each power like multiple, Ice bolts, blasts, etc, or will they pull an IF2 on us and give us only one set?

But I want there to be some powers control. I don't want the powers to be temporary, but limited to the split-decision choices

    • Actually, the guy from Heroes who copies powers is Peter Petrelli, before he got too powerful and the writers decided to depower him. There were also Peter's father and Sylar that could gain other's people power, the former however turned off his victim's abilities and the latter had to remove the top of a person's head.

    • This is a thread about Delsin... Not about other video game characters. TALK ABOUT DELSIN OR ILL EAT YOU!! Ehem, sorry for sanity slip,

Anyway guys, is it actually possible for Delsin to absorb the Beasts powersÉ (That É is a question mark, cant figure out why its like that though)

And if possible, try to think of composite ultimate Delsin, with all the powers of characters that ever existed in infamous, like all of them (including David from comics, Mary from Festival of Blood, and even Kessler and bertrand)

        Loading editor
    • Well 1) They would have to make Cole level Conduits the enemies 2) He would most likely become power-crazed and insane from all the powers (which I think you'd be fine with COB, as you're already there) and most importantly 3) The concentration of all the powers into one being would cause Delsin's body to become unstable and probably cause either a huge explosion or the destruction of the earth. Neither of those three are very good, so lets stick with SS characters being absorbed

        Loading editor
    • infamous is most incredible game if we get another powers and combine them

i think we can for example delsin first get smoke power then get fire power and combine them to create power in demo trailer

if SP let we use a lot of powers such as terra , leave , ice , electricity , fire , smoke and best power crowd and gravity contol similiar to beast I SS its GOTY game

      its really awesome!!!!!!!!!

Now I did say imagine right? Or was it think? Either way think if Delsin with all powers (with or without beast powers) goes to something like Marvel or Naruto verse.

But yeah, Delsin would be op by then

        Loading editor
    • Okay, here's a question... Can he learn every single power you see in there after you absorb their power?

        Loading editor
    • From what we can tell yes. He seemed to have absorbed every smoke power from the Conduit he saved, so I can only imagine it would be the same for all of them

        Loading editor
    • He didnt save the Conduit, the guy died.....

        Loading editor
    • I'm not very informed on the back story behind how he got the powers. Was he dead before or after the powers were absorbed?

        Loading editor
    • I thought he saved the guy and then got his powers. Mayve he accidentaly killed him after saving him.

        Loading editor
    • DPU convoy crashes, Delsin sees dying guy, trys to help, absorbs guys power just as  guy dies.

        Loading editor
    • That's what I figured out after typing it. So that's still unknown, but we all have a pretty good idea on Delsin's power limit?

        Loading editor
    • Hey guys, just had a dream earlier, almost forgot everything abot it but I remember a few things.

I was controlling Delsin and he was definitely like Cole but faster. He can only 'air dash' twice, and I did a lot of effort saving people from getting killed, with them thanking me and joining me against the DPUS. And they actually have weapons like shotguns and batons...

Weird dream... But that was also the night after I (for the hell of it since I was so bored) listened to a lucid dream hypnosis video. It didn't work though, but hey! A dream about a video game, that's a new one for me.

Anyway, this gives me a question or more.

Is there a limit to how long Delsin can be in his smoke form?

Does that mean he can reform limbs by absorbing smoke if he loses an arm somehow? (I know it's a T rated game so probably not going to happen)

Can Delsin himself survive smoke attacks, as seeing Cole can be damaged by Kessler's lightning attacks

        Loading editor
    • Actually, it's not a T rated game yet. Most likely, but not for certain. Also, if you're starting to dream about it, I think you might need a little vacay from the wiki for a while dude. Calm your brain.

        Loading editor
    • i've heard that as the game progresses you get new powers depends on your karma, so i think you will have full potential of all of them and some used for obstacles, get it? full potential that it's only for the game, I also heard that the game is (supposedly) mature

        Loading editor
    • Karma change makes it interesting. If you're good and you get say, electric, earth and ice then you have to go through the game again to get the tar powers, Betrand's whatever-it's-called, and a psychic Conduit, (David) then it might change things up player choice wise. Although, personally I'd like the ability to choose each time

Don't worry, found the solution, stay away from those videos that helps you sleep. It was a sudden dream anyway, and I didn't really have much memorable dreams lately.

On the other hand, I read from the article, infamous karmic decisions would be much more subtle now.

Maybe they should try to make abilities that haven't been used yet? I personally would want something gravity related or something specific called dark matter, but let's leave that at that

        Loading editor
    • Regarding the rating, unless Sucker Punch decides to go crazy with the language, Second Son will probably stick with a T rating. The violence doesn't seem as intense, there was almost no blood (ESRB might mark "animated blood" for the smoke), and no language during that video (although by Delsin's character, it's possible it will come out/the DUP will constitute the majority of it).

That could have been a premonition, I get those so its likely, so honest advice when you play the game and get a deja vu feeling then you probably already played that out in your dream but its one of the parts you forgot.

As for the topic of the thread, if we assume the game is gonna be anything like the other two then there will be maybe three more main powersets after smoke since three good ranks, three bad ranks, three sets of enemys, etc. Hopefully we won't have to absorb the elements in question to use the basic attacks(iF2 reference)

      for evil karma:

in e3 demo delsin is evil and combine fire and smoke power

    • Yeah, you're right lasers are too far, but there could be powers based on things other than elements, we all know those. Fairy Tail is good and various but I'm hoping for something new or not overused. Don't get me wrong but when Cole was created there already were people with electricity, like Static and Electro, so a few new tricks would be good.

Maybe this will help reinforce the karma system, maybe being evil makes citizens more inclined to inform the DUP of your whereabouts, whereas being Good makes people lie about what they see e.g. you take out a DUP supply convoy and the citizens make it out to be a crash or if you were evil the public would tell the DUP you're seeking out their convoys making the DUP boost up security on them.

About the new karma system, I remember Sucker Punch saying that if you scare people by being bad they will call the DUP, but they also said that since not everybody likes the DUP if you're good some of them will help you.

I don't know where to start. First of all, can you please stop making so many paragraphs? Thanks.

Second, about light / darkness powers. inFamous isn't a fantasy game, it's a sci-fi game, so it would make no sense how Delsin drags enemies into shadows, down the abyss. Besides, you have Noob Saibot to do that, right? Or soak all the light from his surroundings too. That makes zero sense.

Third, the power the DUP Conduits use in the gameplay video is rather rock than earth.

    • The whole "plant" powerset seems a little weird to me. I have so far never learned anything about a plant that eats people in real life. Have you? I'll use the "not fantasy, sci-fi" arguement here.

And about rock and ice. My guess is there will be one of those powersets in the game, but not both. Think about it. These powers are too alike. You can propell yourself into the air with both ice collumns (Ice Launch) and with rock collumns (as seen in the gameplay video), create both ice and rock shields, throw ice and rock spikes (as a bolt-type power maybe?). Of course, if you could do some crazy stuff with ice, like freezing ground beneath you to slide, that would create some diversity.

Also, I am quite sure they will bring back electricity, but not Cole's electromagnetism. Quite hyped if they would make gravity / magnetism as a different powerset.

So far, Second Son is selling a PS4 to me.

The game does not reward you for sticking to neutral karma, you HAVE to be either good or evil. I hope they'll improve on that system in SS.

    • Phantom....there was no Neutral Karama rank in InFamous 2....

I don't like the Karma determined powersets either, but this could be an explanation

yeah but then that sorta defeats the purpose of allowing players to make their own choses, e.g. what if a good power is extremely accurate plasma blasts and you can take it because the conduit is sick of their powers or take a terrorists powers to create explosions that cause tons of collateral damage. And you want plasma but you're bad, does that mean the game will just go for the bad choice for you?

i dunno but the way you said it made it sound like it'll restrict players choice

    • Personally I think if they ever want to implement a neutral karma path, I would expect a bad ending. As in it's not as great as the good or evil ending. For example, you can either use this device that will remove all conduit powers and now pretend to be normal (good) or destroy the dup and ensure that they will never rise, then blend in to become humans (evil) or just hide (neutral)

Though personally I think it would be a good choice of SP to implement karmic choices that heavily affect your karma. I swear all choices except for the Ray Sphere and the Power Transfer did very minimal effects. Maybe if it was made so that if you're good or evil, doing the opposite karmic choice seems easier but will alter your karma...

      At least that's my opinion.

SP did say that the good or bad karma choices would be more subtler

    • Okay about what I said further up (I'll give you time to scroll up quickly and see...now!)

What if your choice of powers impacte your karmatic status, but meant you did have to do what happened at the end of inFamous 2 where you had to achieve the inFamous or Hero karma to continue to the ending?

    • I would say that you get the option of taking person a's powers or person b's powers (good or bad karma style). Both power options could give you a way to get to the next area!! That way, you get to chose which power you like better, similar to choosing kuo's or nix's power sets in inFamous 2

    • I would assume they would be similar, but instead of straight electric lines, they would be smokey and spread out a bit

        Loading editor
    • I wonder if the look would change when you swap to another power

        Loading editor
    • I assume it would have to, considering that his powers arent only smoke based. ie. If delsin was using his rock based powers, the cores would look like a trail of rocks, with boulders as the actual power core.

        Loading editor
    • It might be hard to create individual power cores for each power, so I'm kinda expect a meter. I don't want it, but I'm expecting it

        Loading editor
    • We can't even say there WILL be Blast Cores is SS. Maybe Delsin's powers will just get stronger over time.

        Loading editor
    • Power Cores are the little energy markers in the top left. But to add to your thing, there really won't be, Delsin's powers will expand differently than Cole's did, as they are two sides of the same cube (cube being that there are so many other powers coin no longer applies)

        Loading editor
    • Maybe it's gonna be like those color wheels with glowing colors representing the element and slowly turning blank if you use them too much.

But then again, they did say they'll make the screen as clear as possible I think

        Loading editor
    • Oops, pardon me for being confused by the terms, Ccnitro.

I am not sure that they will all use one meter. Ryan Flamming in an interview said Delsin's powers will be something that can be found in urban environment, like electricity or smoke, and there won't be unobtainium. I think that's a little *wink* that every power will, in fact, have it's power-cores-ish things.

You can't power rock with smoke anyway, right?

(However, it is strange how Cole powered ice/napalm with electricity. But it must've been developers' lazyness)

        Loading editor
    • inFamous was a game about electric powers. inFamous 2 was about expanding the electrical powers, with the added bonus of napalm or ice. Second Son now follows Delsin taking control of a whole moshpit of powers. It was partially laziness, but more focusing on the task at hand

    • I'm not a game developer, but I imagine creating different sources for different powers is quite a hard task. You have a technical crew who make these things work and a design crew who place those things around the world. Also, balancing powers. Rock is kinda OP to recharge, since it's everywhere. On the other hand, water is rare, since I bet Delsin doesn't know how to turn on the tap, so rivers will be the source. Same, I think, will go with ice.

Creating different mobility options for some powers will also be a pain in the butt. We've already got vents for smoke confirmed, not sure about electric lines around Seattle (if Delsin DOES get electric powers).

They're really pushing how easy it is to develop on PS4 with PC-like architechture, though. With SP's experience and PS4 simplicity I am sure they will make an awesome game! SS is already what's selling a PS4 to me.

so water will be more powerful than rock

    • How do you think Delsin's Radar Pulse will be? He must have one for each power, but the more I think about a Smoke Sense, the more ridiculous it sounds.

        Loading editor
    • He can just have sort of an air impurity sensor or heat sense.

        Loading editor
    • I think you could explain it as hunger. If he's hungry he'll go get food. Same goes with the powers. The feeling is instinctual; hungry go find food. I'm going to expect that it's kinda like that

    • Okay

    • i imagine smoke powers because other powers not confirmed

delsin stick his two hands together and then near his hand we'll see fire but in front we see smoke that take down enemies if delsin near to enemy that die faster . delsin hold smoke in his hand longer we hold botton the ball get bigger if delsin power deplate throw himself with ball it create a big explosive we see this in first trailer but delsin health will low a upgrade for smoke bolt that choke enemy but absorb more energy delsin absorb smoke from fire with tornado animation we see in first trailer if delsin can ride a car smoke sourrond car and then anyone near to car get choke.also delsin we'll takedown enemies silenty if there is science in game he/she give a device to delsin if delsin throw it and turn into smoke delsin follow device and can move faster in city but after use delsin can recieve that . it can also use when delsin surronded by enemies he throw it on top of building and escape it confuse enemis and also can use it to takedown enemies silenty delsin can throw it front of enemy or under it after it transform to his real size and choke enemy .next power delsin can choke enemy from a long range but it consume big amount of energy.

Imagine either having a huge circle with a bunch of little circles branching off it evenly, or many medium sized circles in a kind of chain but not originating from any one of the circles. We're wondering which one of those sets will the powers (aka circles) follow

        Loading editor
    • Also I got this

i imagine flue powers because other powers not confirmed

delsin stay together both of his hands and then near his hand we will see fire, but we envisage that smoke take down enemies when delsin near enemy, quickly die. delsin hold smoke in his hand longer we hold botton to get the ball higher if delsin Deplate power ball throw with it a large explosive we see this in the first trailer but delsin health is a low-smoke upgrade for bolts that choke enemy but absorb more energy delsin absorb smoke of fire with tornado animation we see in the first trailer delsin if a car can drive smoke sourrond car and then someone nearby auto choke.also we delsin enemies Silenty takedown when it is in science game he / she give a device delsin when delsin throw and follow delsin in smoke machine and can move faster in the city, but delsin after use can get an accurate, it may also be used if delsin surronded by enemies he throws it on top building and escape confuse enemis and also can use it to take down enemies Silenty delsin can throw against hostile or after transforming it to its true size, choke enemy. next time can suffocate from a long line delsin enemy, but consume large amounts of energy.

    • Did what you told, now the spelling me puts me off. Dude, at least type properly!

Anyway guys, will be gone from here for a bit since I'm moving so no internet for awhile. Not that it really matters since I don't really post that much. But I'll leave some stuff for you to discuss.

If Delsin ever gets the ability to manipulate the vector values of everything around him (the direction and momentum of something, which is a pretty op ability so probably not going to be in game), I would be expecting him to fly by summoning small cyclones on his back, create that earthquake stomp Kessler did, create tornadoes, and deal as much impact as a certain scientific virus with his physical attacks. Again only leaving this here for that

If he ever gets the ability to manipulate gravity, I would expect mini black holes, a crushing aura attack due to increase in gravity, or no gravity around him
